What is equine massage & acupressure?

Equine massage uses targeted manual techniques to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and support recovery — whether your horse is a working athlete, a trail companion, or simply a beloved animal in your care.

Acupressure uses gentle, sustained pressure on specific points of the body to help release tension, improve comfort and mobility, and support the body’s natural ability to relax and function well. When combined with massage, it can be a simple, noninvasive way to address areas of restriction and encourage overall wellbeing.

Together, these two modalities offer a thorough, non-invasive approach to equine wellness — one that complements veterinary, chiropractic, and ferrier care, while supporting the whole horse, not just the presenting issue.

Is your horse trying to tell you something?

Difficulty picking up or holding a lead, reluctance to move out
Struggling to engage the hind end or push from behind
Head tossing, impatient, or avoiding the bit
Frequent colic symptoms or being unsettled
Increased bucking or spooking - more "looky" than normal
Resistance to grooming, blanketing, or being touched
Shortened stride, uneven movement, or lazy carriage
Girthiness or pinned ears when being tacked up

These signs don't always mean a lameness or medical issue — sometimes the answer is soft tissue. Bodywork can help identify and address tension patterns that may be contributing to what you're seeing. When in doubt, a vet evaluation is always the right first step.

What horses may benefit from

  • Relief from muscle soreness, stiffness, and tension
  • Improved range of motion and flexibility
  • Faster recovery after training, competition, or injury
  • Reduced stress and anxiety responses
  • Support for horses with chronic pain or compensatory patterns
  • Enhanced body awareness and willingness under saddle

Who is this for?

Equine massage and acupressure is appropriate for horses of all disciplines and life stages — from performance horses and sport horses to retired animals and those in light work.

Sessions are conducted on-site at your property. As with the mobile massage practice, the goal is to bring quality care directly to you and your horse — no trailering required.

On-site, at your property

All equine sessions are conducted on location. There's no need to haul your horse anywhere — I come to you.
